Charity challenge for sisters in aid of MS charity

Two sisters have been inspired to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge inspired by their mother’s battle with multiple sclerosis.

Claire Rochester and Lisa Hume will be scaling the trio of summits this summer in hope of raising £1,000 for the MS Society.

Mum Lin, who chairs a local branch of the charity, previously took part in a 10,000ft skydive for the organisation.

The sisters were so impressed by their mum’s courage, they decided they wanted to attempt a challenge of their own.

“Last year mum jumped out of a plane so we thought, if she can do that then we have no excuse,” said Claire.

“We’re going to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, we’ll fly to Scotland in the morning to start and end in Wales 24 hours later.”

“We’re going with a group but we don’t anybody apart from each other, although I’m sure we will get to know the others pretty quickly on the day.

“It’s the first time I’ve done anything like this, there will be lots of walking and other fitness training between now and then.”

The sisters’ preparations have been somewhat hampered by the fact that Lisa popped her calf muscle during training, but they’re determined not to let the setback stop them.
